I have been to traditional dermatologists and have failed their treatments. Do you have anything that I haven’t already tried?

We specialize in difficult, treatment-resistant acne. We often find that highly-motivated, highly-educated patients are not using optimal treatment for their skin. Schedule an appointment with the experts and you will be surprised how much more can be done.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

You will spend approximately 30 minutes at your initial appointment. We will discuss your acne, when it started, what treatments you have tried, and what type of treatment plan you would like. We take pictures of your skin and look at your acne under the magnifier. We assign you a diagnosis. Finally, we discuss treatment options.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance card and photo ID. Also please bring products that you are currently using to treat your acne, including any prescription medication. It is also helpful to bring the registration forms pre-filled out (they are available as a .pdf at a link on the right side of the page)

Do you accept insurance?

We currently accept Premera Blue Cross, Premera Microsoft HSA, Regence Blue Shield, Blue Cross of IL, Blue Cross Boeing, First Choice, Aetna, United Healthcare, Anthem, Lifewise. We also cover many Blue Cross / Blue Shield plans; call for more help with these plans.

Does insurance really cover this?

This is the #1 question we receive. Insurance absolutely covers the cost of consultation and treatment at Bellevue Acne Clinic. Mr. Jellerichs is a trained ARNP with full authority to diagnose disease, treat disorders, and prescribe medications. Mr. Jellerichs is contracted with several insurance carriers as an in-network provider. If your health insurance covers a regular visit to a family doctor and/or a medical dermatologist, they will cover this visit. Feel free to visit your insurance carrier’s website, and look for Bradley Jellerichs as an in-network provider. Call with any more questions.

How much does the visit cost?

The cost of the visit depends on the complexity of your acne, length of the visit, any special procedures, and other contributing medical factors. Please call for detailed pricing. We offer significant discounts to cash/credit card customers. We find that given the amount of money our patients spend on acne products that don’t work, getting a comprehensive acne assessment and personalized treatment plan is well worth the money.

How much do the treatments cost?

Special procedures, including injections, minor surgeries, comedo extractions, and photodynamic therapy may not be covered by insurance. We are excellent at coming up with a treatment plan to fit your budget. At the end of the first visit you will have an excellent idea of what different treatment plans will cost. If budget is an issue, we can accomodate.

I think I need isotretinoin (Accutane). Do you prescribe that?

Bellevue Acne Clinic is a registered prescriber of Accutane. Although isotretinoin is always available as an option, it has significant adverse effects. We prefer using less serious interventions.

Do I need to take my make-up off for my appointment?

Clean skin is preferable during your assessment, because it permits a more through evaluation of your skin. However, if you are unable to take off your makeup due to work obligations, etc., we can accomodate that. We have makeup remover in the office.

When are you open?

Our availibity can accommodate any schedule. We can usually schedule your first appointment in less than a week. Our convenient weekend and evening hours fill up quickly.

What special treatments do you do?

Photodynamic therapy is an acne treatment that has a solid evidence base in scientific studies. A photo-sensitive drug is smeared onto the affected area of your skin. A deep-penetrating light source is fired at the skin, driving the drug deep into the epidermis, killing bacteria and promoting healthy skin cell turnover. It is perfect for those who struggle to find time to stick to twice daily treatment products.
